Breanne Rising (she/her), MA, LMFT

Director + Consultant + Coach

My experience highlights work with couples, mixed-neurotype partners, LGBTQIA+ folks, parents, and adults raised by emotionally immature caregivers. The people I work with are resilient, thoughtful and intuitive. My approach is transparent and client-centered. I draw from relational and humanistic theories, Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.

I bring my personality with me – I am down to earth, open-hearted, and honest. My style is casual and interactive. Working with me can help you recognize patterns, deepen understanding, and learn to communicate wants and needs in new ways. With some support, I believe that conflict is a beautiful opportunity for closeness and healing. I strive to create a supportive space where you can share openly and gain new insight.

Sometimes lived experience matters. Here are some of my more salient identities: queer, European American, parent, and spouse. After nearly twenty years in the Bay Area, in 2022, I took our practice fully online. I remain lovingly connected to my Northern California networks as we grow.

Note: I am currently only accepting clients for coaching, professional consultation and private intensives for couples. Please scroll below for our other amazing therapists.

Couples Therapy + Individual Therapy

I’m a warm, compassionate and down-to-earth therapist. I work relationally, drawing upon psychodynamic, existential and emotion-focused therapies. Through our therapeutic relationship, we will create a space where you feel seen, heard and comfortable to explore and express your authentic self.

Whether you’ve been in therapy before or it’s your first time, it’s hard to be vulnerable and to give voice to that which brings us discomfort, pain or shame. And, therapy can be incredibly rewarding. Creating meaning out of our experiences is a powerful and transformative process, one I am honored to walk through with my clients.

I work with adults, LGBTQIA+ folks and couples on issues like, but not limited to:

  • Relationships

  • Personal or relational patterns

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma

  • Depression and anxiety

  • Life transitions

  • Identity exploration

  • Eating issues and body image

My Experience includes:

  • Working as a therapist with adolescents and their families at a clinic treating eating disorders. I provided individual, group and family therapy, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

  • Time at a county clinic in Daly City serving adults in the community with mental health issues. I provided individual and group therapy, case management, and crisis intervention.

  • Offering individual therapy and crisis intervention to college and graduate students in the counseling center of the San Francisco Art Institute.

  • Counseling and human resources in a corporate setting
