Land Acknowledgement
The Bay Area Relationship Center acknowledges that our practice is based on the lands of the Ramaytush, Ohlone and Muwekma peoples. We recognize that we benefit from living and working on their traditional homeland. As an online practice, some of our therapists might work and live on different lands throughout the year. We want to acknowledge the Wenrohronon and Haudenosausee peoples of The Grand River, where our director currently resides. We pay our respects by acknowledging the Ancestors, Elders and Relatives of these Communities and by affirming their sovereign rights as First Peoples.
Here are some resources for promoting and connecting with the thriving, diverse indigenous communities of the Bay Area:
Intertribal Friendship House one of the first urban American Indian community centers in the nation.
Sogorea Te’ Land Trust, an urban Indigenous women-led land trust facilitating the return of Indigenous land to Indigenous people.
Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits, a community-based volunteer organization that offers culturally relevant activities for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex Native Americans, their families and friends.
Friendship House Association of American Indians, the oldest social service organization in the United States run by and for American Indians.
